I Learned Something about Amazon

Looking for some help on this. As I have yet to publish my book, I found this information surprising- and I know both the author of the post & myself would love for this info to be incorrect! Does Amazon really require you to sell your ebook at a rate of 20% more on any other sales channels to receive a 70% royalty on books sold on Amazon?? Not sure how I feel about listing my book for more on ibooks, etc … What is your take on this? Thank you!!

  1. While Amazon is making some aggressive, and not-so-friendly moves, it appears that they simply don’t want to be undersold. On https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId=A29FL26OKE7R7B, they state

“You must set your Digital Book’s List Price (and change it from time-to-time if necessary) so that it is no higher than the list price in any sales channel for any digital or physical edition of the Digital Book.

But if you choose the 70% Royalty Option, you must further set and adjust your List Price so that it is at least 20% below the list price in any sales channel for any physical edition of the Digital Book.”

Interestingly, thought that the same page also has how they will price match if they find your book at a lower price.

I look forward to hearing what you learn as I will be dealing with this very shortly too!!!
